CloudyShaper automatically creates file system and database backups for user sites.
These backups are performed on a site’s replica server and stored separately. backups do not impact the storage utilization or performance of a production site.

Backup Schedule
File systems and databases are backed up on separate schedules.
- File System: daily at 00:00 UTC — regardless of file changes
- Daily: We retain and provide the last 7 days of daily backups.
- Weekly: Beyond the last 7 days, backups are reduced to 1 per week.
- The current platform retention period for these backups is 30 days but you may find 60-90 day backups.
- Database: hourly — as changes are detected. Currently, retains nearly every hour going back 90 days in most cases.
On-Demand Backups
By default, the number of on-demand backups available to a site is one file system and one database backup. This may be adjusted by the WP Cloud team. If a site has reached its on-demand limit, previously requested backups must be deleted.
Restoring Backups
Login to your dashboard. From the backup option, you can manage, create, delete, and restore your backups.

Redundancy & Real-Time Failover
As part of the platform’s Automatic Failover system, the platform also stores a separate inaccessible copy of the site, kept in sync via real-time replication, within another region. In the event of a pool, data center, or regional failure, the system will transition a site’s traffic to the site’s secondary pool.
These secondary servers also power backup generation and downloads, allowing backups to not have a performance impact on the production site.
